My name is Shawn Sahara. I’m a Chicago native, born and raised.
As a kid my inspirations were from watching sci-fi movies in the 90’s such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jurassic Park, Jumanji, The Matrix, and from immersive film rides at Disney World and Universal Studios. I dreamed of creating different effects for films or ideas for film rides. I created action figures and scripted stories of characters. I developed a passion for moving images and pursed my career after college. I enrolled in the 3D animation and Visual Effects program at Vancouver Film School where I began to develop a special interest and talent for Digital Compositing.
As a digital compositor, I take live action shots and elements such as effects footage or cg and I layer them together to create the illusion of reality. Effects work mostly depends on what needs to be conveyed for the story. Digital Compositing can be challenging because artists have to constantly learn, develop pipelines and adapt to whatever changes need to be made on a shot, sometimes in a short amount of time. But overcoming the challenges can be a rewarding experience.
From my experience in post production, working with a team of talented artists on a strict deadline schedule motivates me to produce good work. I consider myself to be a very creative, adaptable artist always looking to train my eye for something new. I have experience in motion capture tracking, motion design and commercial compositing. But my true passion is the latter, because I love troubleshooting shots and making seamless integration. I’ve worked mostly in Nuke and other compositing packages.
